The term Reiki is a Japanese expression that could be translated as "universal energy" or "vital energy". In fact, Rei is a word that indicates the vital and creative energy that is present in the universe, while Ki (or chi) is nothing more than our part of Rei, the amount of vital and creative energy present in each of us. Reiki can be defined as a force of vital energy spiritually oriented. Reiki is a type of force of special vital energy that can only be channeled by somebody who has been initiated. Those who have not been initiated by a Master are using their own energy, which could convey risks. This means that only those who have been properly attuned can use Reiki.
